Over the years, the sporting giant adidas has provided some of the best football boots ever for national football teams as well as for commercial use. It has constantly been coming up with new and improved innovative ideas in the area of football boots over the years, making it a popular choice for players across the world. The most popular adidas football boot ranges are Predator, F50 and adiPURE.

Predator

These boots are based on a prototype concept from Craig Johnston, a former Australian footballer who played for Liverpool in the 1980's. Today, the Predator range of adidas consists of 11 versions - Predator (1994), Rapier (1995), Touch (1996), Accelerator (1998), Precision, Karnivor, Incission (2001), Mania, Manic, Manado (2002-2003), Pulse, Pulsion, Pulsado (2004-2005), Absolute, Absolado (2006-2007), PowerSwerve (2008), Predator X (2009) and Predator AdiPower (2011). These boots have developed over time with improvements in modern technology and knowledge of the game. However, the basic concept behind the boots is the same - the presence of rubber patches or strips on the top of the shoe, which increase friction between the boot and the ball. The Predator range is designed for power and famous wearers of these football boots include Kaka, Steven Gerrard, David Beckham, Frank Lampard, Xavi, Michael Ballack and Nani to name a few stars.

F50

This boot was first released in 2004 as a direct competitor to Nike's Mercurial Vapor range, and consists of customisable, lightweight boots. The name refers to the year 1954 (50 year anniversary) when the German national team won the World Cup wearing adidas football boots. Today there are several improvements in the boot which include +F50.7 (2007), +F50.8 (2008), +F50.9 (2008), +F50i (2009), F50 adiZero (2010) and the F50 adiZero Prime (2011). The latest version of the F50 boot weighs in at 145g, making them the lightest boot in the market. The boots come in various colours and are designed for speed oriented players. Famous wearers of the F50 football boots include Lionel Messi, David Villa, Lukas Podolski, Steven Pienaar and Diego Forlan.

adiPURE

This range of football boots are based on the design of the football boots used in the 1978 World Cup, with updated improvements. The original adiPURE was coined in 2008 and featured many designs of the original boot used in 1978. Versions and variants of the adiPURE over the years include adiCORE and Telstar II (2008), adiPURE II, adiCORE II and adiNOVA (2009), adiPURE III, adiCORE III and adiNOVA II (2010), adiPURE IV and adiPURE SL (2011). Notable wearers of the adiPURE football boot range include Xabi Alonso, Philip Lahm and Frank Lampard.
