New York Jets vs. Indianapolis Colts 2010 AFC Championship Game Predictions: The Jets (11-7) are back for the second time this season to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Only this time, a berth to the Super Bowl is on the line and the Colts (15-2) will not be resting any of their starters. In their previous meeting, the Colts were a 3 point favorite and were undefeated with a spotless 14-0 record. Rookie Head Coach Jim Caldwell pulled Peyton Manning and other starters early in the second half with a 15-10 lead. The Jets took advantage of the situation, and went on to win 29-15 and grabbed control of their playoff destiny. The two teams will meet again with a 3:00 PM ET kickoff on a foggy Sunday afternoon. The Dome might protect the visitors from the rain, wind and the fog, but the Jets will need a whole lot more to protect them from Peyton Manning’s offense, the Colts new found defense and the rowdy Colts crowd which should confuse young Mark Sanchez on every snap.

This is the first time a conference championship game will have two first year coaches, and the first time it will feature a Super Bowl rematch. The Jets' only trip to the Super Bowl came before the AFL-NFL merger, when Joe Namath and New York stunned the heavily favored Baltimore Colts 16-7 in 1969. There are key positions on both sides and the main piece in this chess match is the “King” (Peyton Manning). Like the King piece, Peyton gets one move; up, down, left, or right. And no other quarterback moves better in the pocket to prevent a check let alone a check mate. Rex Ryan and Peyton Manning have played several chess matches against each other over the years, and it has been Mr. Manning who has had the success, not Rex Ryan's defenses. Over the Jets' last eight games, only the Colts have scored more than 14 points against them, and the starters were only in for half the game. The Jets defense is complimented by the leagues No.1 ranked rushing attack. Rookie Shonn Greene and Thomas Jones have done their part to take some pressure off of Rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez. Indianapolis meanwhile, ranks just 24th against the run, but held a potent Ravens’ rushing attack to just 87 yards in a dominant defensive effort. The Colts will most likely stack the line of scrimmage in an attempt to stop the run and force the rookie quarterback to beat them. The Colts’ defense relies on speed, crucial to shutting down the outside runs and getting pressure on the quarterback. Mark Sanchez will have very little time to make good decisions; which should lead to some turnovers and great field position for the Colts.
